Discover a unique, timeless place
The Hôtel-Dieu de Tonnerre is an ancient hospital founded in 1293 by Marguerite de Bourgogne, Countess of Tonnerre and Queen of Jerusalem. For centuries, this exceptional historic monument has welcomed the sick and needy, who come here to receive free care for body and soul: services are held daily in the chapel at the end of the Salle des malades, so that all can attend from their beds. This year, we're offering a unique tourist and cultural activity to help you discover Tonnerre. Right in the center of town, discover the Hôtel-Dieu, an extraordinary historical monument where 800 years of history await you!
It's a cry from the heart, a plea to bring the public back to the great houses that made our history.
We want to help visitors discover this heritage in a new way, by creating innovative events, activities and tours that will give them a fresh look at the châteaux and appeal to all generations. Castles have always been family homes, and should remain so! Through our year-round activities, visitors understand that they can come back every season, that the château will never be the same, that it evolves with them.
Tous au Château is a network of committed châteaux that place the visitor at the center of their thinking, so that he or she is welcomed not as a customer but as a friend of our heritage, and develop activities that respect the history of the site and its environment.
